The Humanities grant entitled, Traditional Micronesian Art Forms, was acquired through the NMI Humanities Council to create an art collection for the public. This catalog contains details of the terms in the public art collection. Abstract: This project will attempt to acquire and preserve the most important examples of traditional art forms that represent the artistic heritage of the Micronesian Islands. This folk arts, crafts and textiles collection will serve as educational examples for the CNMI public by offering a visual counterpart to the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library's Nancy Weil Pacific Collection, illustrations for a project website and facilitating lectures, exhibits, and educational visits. The collection will remain in the public domain and be circulated freely to other educational entities. Project Catalog |
